It continues to snow here in Syracuse and hopefully this weekend will be the last of it?!?!?!? I was going to write a race report on the Syracuse Half Marathon that I ran last weekend, but there isn't too much to say about it. It was a typical day for this event (at least for the past few years) despite having the date pushed back a week. Ironically the weekend it's normally scheduled on was in the 60s and would have been great. The weather this past weekend turned from bad...to the worst conditions of all time that I've raced in...for that duration of time. See below for photographic evidence (photo credit: TWellot Photography). What the picture doesn't capture is the wind-chill that pretty much rosed (I know not a verb) everyone's cheeks. A side note was that I won a great age group award that had a bunch of different Syracuse products (New Hope Mills pancake mix, Terrell's BBQ potato chips, Chocolate Pizza Co candy, Dinosaur BBQ barbeque sauce, Paradise Farms maple syrup, and Alpha Mind vitamin coffee)! Also, a side side note, and, I may be biased but I nominate Lauren as having the greatest running photo of all time (see the end of the post). Looking ahead...
I'm planning on building up for my next big race at Cayuga Trails 50miler. I'll include what I'd like to do for a training plan in a future post and how I plan to execute a slightly different nutrition plan than I did last year at this race. I can definitely say that I'm much stronger muscularly than I was last year and I am looking forward to that race. In between that I will be running with my girlfriend Lauren at The North Face Bear Mountain 50k. I am very excited for that, as it will be her first trail and 50k race. It's a great course and I'm sure will be a fun time. She is in great shape and I'm looking forward to that weekend.
